Stages in the Permit Appeals Process

There are several phases which are part of the permit appeals process:

  • Phase 1: Petition for Review Filed
  • Phase 2: Petition for Review Granted or Denied
  • Phase 3: Public Notice of Briefing Period
  • Phase 4: Appeals Awaiting Final DTSC Decision
  • Phase 5: Permit Appeal Decision Completed

DTSC is currently considering one (1) petition for review of the DTSC-initiated permit modification decision, issued on June 7, 2016, approving the revised Pond 1 Closure Plan.  For more information and other permit documents, go to the facility page.

Phase 1:  Petitions for Review Filed

DTSC is currently considering one (1) petition for review of the Hazardous Waste Facility Permit decision issued on March 11, 2016.  Briefs concerning the appeal were received from Tri-Valley CAREs on February 13, 2017 and DTSC on April 3, 2017.  The Permit Appeals Officer is reviewing the briefs and the administrative record and will issue an Order with the final decision for the appeal issues granted review.  For more information and other permit documents, go to facility page.
