Safer Consumer Products

The Safer Consumer Products (SCP) program is using a four-step process to reduce toxic chemicals in the products that consumers buy and use. It identifies specific products that contain potentially harmful chemicals and asks manufacturers to answer two questions: 1) Is this chemical necessary? 2) Is there a safer alternative?

Public Meeting on 1,4-Dioxane in Personal Care and Cleaning Product

Adopted: Paint or Varnish Strippers Containing Methylene Chloride

DTSC has adopted regulations to list paint or varnish strippers containing methylene chloride as a Priority Product effective January 1, 2019. 


Adopted: Spray Polyurethane Foam Systems

DTSC has adopted regulations to list spray polyurethane foam systems with unreacted methylene diphenyl diisocyanates as a Priority Product effective July 1, 2018.
