Safer Consumer Products Workshops & Events

DTSC hosts workshops when the Safer Consumer Products program announces a new plan, products list, regulation, or other significant steps taken. The workshops provide the public an opportunity to discuss the scope and content of these milestones. DTSC staff also participate in a variety of other public events for interested parties, such as describing and providing updates regarding the SCP program, hosting sessions or speaking at technical meetings.

Ortho-phthalates and Bisphenol A and their Alternatives in Food Packaging

The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has been working to evaluate food packaging containing Ortho-phthalates (OPs) and/or Bisphenol A (BPA) under the 2018-2020 Priority Product Workplan. The meeting is scheduled from 9:00 AM to noon PST in the Klamath Room, located on the second floor of the Cal EPA building at 1001 I Street in Sacramento, California, 95812 and will also be available via webinar. The PPWP prioritized product categories containing chemicals that may migrate from food packaging or have the potential to harm the aquatic environment, children, or workers. SCP identified several Candidate Chemicals that warrant further research or input from stakeholders. SCP is seeking to better understand the presence of these Candidate Chemicals in current product uses.
