Training Series on Complying with Priority Product Regulations
The purpose of this video training series is to provide information, guidance, and assistance on complying with Priority Product regulations. We hope this will help increase your understanding of the process and clarify the important procedural steps associated with compliance.
Introduction
This introductory video gives an overview of each training module to help you determine which of the following videos might be most relevant to your specific needs.
Introduction to Safer Consumer Products
This module provides an overview of our program, including our mission and goals and a description of our regulatory framework.
Responsible Entities and Compliance
This module will help you determine whether you have a duty to comply after DTSC regulates a product-chemical combination as a Priority Product. This video explains whether you have a responsibility to act and if so, when and how, based on your role in the supply chain.
Options for Compliance with Priority Product Regulations
This module provides an overview of the options available for complying with Priority Product regulations, including the various Alternatives Analysis (AA) reporting options, Removal or Replacement notifications, and the AA Threshold Notification.
Removal or Replacement Notifications
Removal or Replacement Notifications in Lieu of Alternatives Analysis
This module describes three types of notifications that can be used to comply with Priority Products regulations instead of conducting an AA. These notifications involve either removing a Priority Product from the California market, removing its Chemical of Concern, or replacing the Chemical of Concern within a short time frame.
Alternatives Analysis
Preliminary Alternatives Analysis
This module describes the key steps involved in the Preliminary AA, the first stage of the SCP two-stage AA process. In the Preliminary AA, manufacturers scope and screen a wide range of alternatives and select alternatives to be further analyzed in the Final AA.
Abridged Alternatives Analysis
This module describes the key steps and required regulatory responses involved in the Abridged AA process. This expedited process can be used if a safer or technically feasible alternative cannot be identified in the Preliminary AA.
Alternate Alternatives Analysis Reporting Options
This module provides details of two alternate AA reporting options for conducting an AA outside the SCP framework. These options – an Alternate Process AA or a Previously Completed AA – must be substantially equivalent to the SCP AA.
This module describes the key steps involved in the Final AA, the second stage of the SCP AA process. The Final AA is an in-depth comparative analysis between the Priority Product and the alternatives selected in the Preliminary AA, with the goal of making a final decision on a safer alternative.
Alternatives Analysis Threshold
This module describes what an Alternatives Analysis Threshold (AAT) is, when an AAT Notification (AATN) should be submitted, and the information required to submit an AAT Notification.
