The D&E program selected 112 dry cleaners for the first phase of discovery investigation after prioritizing sites using CalEnviroScreen (CES) scores and their proximity to sensitive receptors, such as residences, schools, hospitals, etc. We developed a priority list using CalEnviroScreen (CES), a mapping tool that ranks every census tract in the state based on sources of pollution and their proximity to sensitive receptors. Properties selected for investigation are in the most environmentally burdened communities in California, with CES scores of 75% or higher. Community members concerned about other types of sites can recommend them for investigation by using DTSC’s D&E Petition Tool.
