Generator Knowledge

The generator is in the best position to know all the chemicals or ingredients used in the process of generating the waste, as well as the quantities and concentrations of chemicals used in the process. In other words, the generator is the cook and should know the ingredients and amounts used in the recipe.

Generators should obtain information to identify the concentrations and types of ingredients are used in their processes. Information from material safety datasheets are available from chemical manufacturers and on-line sources, such as MSDS. In addition, process-specific information may be available from industry groups, industry studies, and helplines/hotlines.
