Hazardous Waste Exemptions
In some instances, a waste is not totally excluded from the California Code of Regulations regulations, but is exempted from some of the hazardous waste requirements as long as certain management conditions are met. For example:
- Materials in product or raw material storage tanks1 are exempt until removed within 90 days of ceasing operation
- Samples2 are subject to regulation as a waste after use as a sample ceases
- Treatability study samples3 for generator and labs
- Controlled substances4
