    Staff will provide a brief update on DTSC’s implementation of the Safer Consumer Products (SCP) regulations to the Panel members.
  4. Public Comment
    Members of the public may offer comments to the Panel on agenda items.
  5. Discussion of Alternatives Analysis Threshold
    DTSC staff will provide an overview of the Alternatives Analysis Threshold (AAT) provision in the SCP regulations. Staff from the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) will present on their Safe Use Determination process. The Panel will discuss considerations for setting an AAT and how the process differs from other regulatory agencies.

  6. Discussion of Metrics for the Safer Consumer Products Program  
    DTSC staff will provide an overview of the need for metrics to measure the success of the SCP program and the associated challenges. The Panel will provide recommendations for metrics most suited for the SCP program.

    Panel members, including guest panelist Dr. Margaret Whittaker of ToxServices LLC, will provide guidance to DTSC as it considers how to evaluate chemical mixtures.

    Dr. Margaret Whittaker of ToxServices LLC will present on her lessons learned in evaluating alternatives assessments. Dr. Whittaker and the Panel will discuss recommendations for DTSC in their upcoming evaluation of the first Alternatives Analyses submitted per the SCP regulations.
